Last Christmas I needed some quick fix presents for a game we play on Christmas Eve. Now, I didn't have time to run to the store, because I was still baking up a storm, but I did have a crochet hook and plenty of cotton yarn! I found some dish/washcloth patterns, and made a few to pair two and two for the gift of the same. That's how my fondness for homemade cotton dishcloths came to be. And that's the whole reason I made this one, that and I absolutely adore the texture of this bamboo stitch! Supplies:
Abbreviations (US terminology):
CH - chain ST - stitch Bamboo - (Tutorial) Yarn over, put hook through indicated space, yarn over and pull through, pull the third loop on your hook through the second loop, yarn over and put into same stitch, yarn over and pull through space, pull the last loop on the hook through all loops, leaving one loop, chain 1 to close stitch (will be written as bamboo, ch 1 - this does not mean to chain one more after the bamboo closing ch 1) Pattern Row 1 Ch 28, bamboo st in fourth ch from hook, ch 1, sk 1, +bamboo, ch 1, sk 1++ repeat from + to ++ across (13 bamboo) Row 2 Ch 2, bamboo in same st, ch 1, sk 1, bamboo in next ch 1 sp, sk 1, +bamboo in next ch 1 space, ch 1, sk 1++ repeat from + to ++ across, put last bamboo st between ch 2 and the bamboo st at the start of previous row Row 3-21 Repeat row 2, finish with a bamboo between last bamboo and ch 2, ch 1 and fasten off. Weave in all ends. For a more stable version I made for my grandma, I put a border of 22 sc around each side, putting 2sc-ch1-2sc in every corner. To make bigger or smaller add or subtract chains in multiples of 2 (the math is 2 + 3) Please let me know if anything doesn't add up. I will translate and post the SWE version of this pattern in due time along with a few more sizes in english. Meanwhile, follow me on instagram and pinterest for more crocheting goofiness. If you do follow me, pretty please tag me on instagram if you make it - I'd love to see your take on this! Happy crocheting, Jenn
