Earlier this spring I was asked to make a hat for a baby shower for a friend of my cousin's and the mother of one of her son's friends. I made the hat, and sat here staring at the rest of the skein of yarn and thought "This child will be number 8 or 9. This child will probably not have something made just for them, and will most likely be another boy even if the mother just wants a girl." And it made me so sad. The rest of the skein turned into a very simple C2C blanket, not too large either but I hope it makes this baby feel warm and loved, boy or girl. This isn't so much a pattern. It's a very simple corner to corner (C2C) blanket that consists of little tiles that are slip stitched together, more or less. All the same, I am going to try to explain how to do this - but also leave a helpful link to where I learned how to do the C2C. Supplies:
Abbreviations (US terminology): CH - chain SL - slip stitch ST - stitch DC - double crochet How to work the c2c, tutorial by the makeanddocrew Pattern
Row 1 Ch 6, dc in the 4th ch from the hook, and in the next 2 ch. (This makes your first corner) Row 2 Ch 6, dc in 4th ch from the hook, and in the next 2 ch, cl st into the ch 3 from the previous row, ch 3, dc 3 times in the ch 3 turning chain Row 3-30 Repeat row 2 until the blanket measures 30 tiles long and 24 tiles wide. To decrease: Instead of chaining 3 at the end of the row and to keep make the blanket wider you slip stitch along the three dc st, the ch 3 and put your dc in the turning chain. It's a little fiddly until you get the hang of it, but it does make a nice edge. Please let me know if anything doesn't add up. I will translate and post the SWE version of this pattern in due time. Meanwhile, follow me on instagram and pinterest for more crocheting goofiness. If you do follow me, pretty please tag me on instagram if you make it - I'd love to see your take on this! Happy crocheting, Jenn
